Never stop learning

This May I'll celebrate 20 years since my graduation with my Doctor of Optometry from the University of Missouri -St. Louis School of Optometry. The breadth and depth of experience since graduation has been immense, including practicing optometry in Ohio, Michigan and South Carolina while working with ophthalmologists, private optometry practices, commercial optometry practices and working in the public sector as the first optometrist in the country to be in a school based vision center, here in Cincinnati at Oyler School in Lower Price Hill.

Prior to graduation, I spent four months working with Dr. Lynn Hellerstein, an optometrist in the greater Denver area who has a practice based entirely on Vision Therapy. I owe her for creating the passion within me to be able to create my own vision therapy practice.

Despite my years in practice, I still have much to learn. In the last few years, I have taken some intense courses specializing in optometric vision therapy taught by some of the most respected optometrists in the field, including WC Maples, OD, Len Press, OD, Carl Hillier, OD, and Brenda Montecalvo, OD. How I enjoy spending time listening to and learning from these passionate individuals!

In April, Kelly Ely and I will head to St. Louis for the annual COVD meeting where we will attend a two day seminar on Amblyopia (lazy eye) and Strabismus (crossed or wall-eye) given by world famous optometrist, Dr. Bob Sanet.

We can't wait to attend and look forward to learning!!
